ABOUT MSC FLI
MSC Freshman Leadership International (MSC FLI) is a freshman leadership organization at Texas A&M University dedicated to promoting cultural understanding and international awareness among the population at A&M.
MSC FLI began its first official year in 2009, thanks to the efforts of both Jonathan Glueck and Nick Petree. As MSC FLI approaches its eleventh year, it continues to promote the values of Family, Diversity, Acceptance, Leadership Development, and Fun in freshmen.
MSC FLI consists of ~45 Freshmen, 12 Assistant Directors, and 7 Executive Directors in charge of 6 subcommittees and the Costa Rica Service Learning Program. There are two Programming subcommittees (Latitude and Longitude), a Public Relations subcommittee, a Leadership subcommittee, a Development subcommittee, and an Internal Programming subcommittee – more info can be found in the Subcommittees tab.
In each subcommittee, every freshman is given the opportunity to develop themselves as leaders through participation in all of MSC FLI’s programs and service opportunities. Additionally, freshmen can choose to help create a program on their own with guidance from the staff. Ultimately, the freshmen shape their own MSC FLI experience through their involvement.
MSC FLI is one of 18 student committees of the Memorial Student Center (MSC). The MSC provides numerous resources, such as funding, a full-time advising staff, and a designated workspace called the Student Programs Office, among other resources. More importantly, this creates relations with other MSC organizations with which we can share ideas and grow together through co-programs and interactions.
