COSTA RICA SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM

Every year, MSC FLI hosts a service-learning program in Costa Rica that allows Aggies to participate in service projects in the small community of San Isidro and the local schools. Participants have the opportunity to learn about another culture, enhance their Spanish language skills, experience the rain forest, and engage with local community members.

Students chosen for the Costa Rica team will have regular meetings to prepare for the trip. Participants will be assigned a team to help one another learn Spanish, understand the Costa Rican culture and prepare for the service activities. Once in Costa Rica, students will work side-by-side with local residents to work on projects in the community. The Costa Rica team will develop and lead activities in the schools.

Participants stay at the Texas A&M Soltis Center while learning about the importance of service and community in an international setting. The Soltis Center is a unique facility, which is in the middle of the rain forest, next to Bosque Eternal de los Niños. Students also participate in outings, such as hiking to a waterfall, zip-lining through the rain forest and visiting a nearby city.

What’s The Program Going To Look Like This Year?

Our Costa Rica Service Learning Program will be in person for Spring 2024! We are excited to connect with the Soltis Center and give participants the opportunity to engage in this unique experience.
